1. ) "The History Of The Spirituals" preserves the African-American Spiritual in the oral tradition. The spiritual songs of the Old South represent the true history of the American people. Pure. Raw. Unfiltered. Join Calvin as he takes you on his journey to know the spirituals and the people who created them. Enjoy the history and the sounds of the spirituals as he strums his guitar and sings the songs of his ancestors. A concert/lecture for adults. 90 minutes.
2. ) "Conversations With Calvin Earl"
offers a dialog with the audience about "We The People" down home go to meeting style. This platform offers the opportunity to celebrate our interconnectedness as Americans using music to help find common ground to build a strong community spirit. He accompanies himself on an acoustic guitar and incorporates spirituals, blues, jazz and Rhythm and Blues. Adult programming. 90 minutes.
3. ) "Gifts From My Ancestors"is a concert/lecture similar to The History of the Spirituals, however it is geared more for students, grades 5-12. 1 hour.
4. ) The "Artist In Residence"
is a 5 day in-depth program designed to bring America's cultural heritage alive. Students will participate in daily workshops and perform live on stage at the end of the week. In their performance at the end of the week through the performing arts and cultural arts the students will interpret their own views on our interconnectedness as Americans putting in their hands the power to effect change and immediately raise the bar to a high standard of excellence for themselves. Grades 5-12.
5. ) "Harriet Tubman and the History of Stewart's Canal"
is a lecture and video presentation about the little known facts in Harriet's early life as a slave in Bucktown, MD. All ages. 1 hour.
