#HarrietTubmanHistory The National Park Service designated many places in Dorchester County, MD as part of the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. The Bucktown Village Store in Bucktown, MD is one of them. It was in Bucktown, MD that Harriet Tubman lived and worked as a slave. History tells us that Harriet was hit in the head with a iron weight as she stood in the doorway of the Bucktown Village store to protect a runaway slave from the overseer trying to capture him, it was the overseer who threw the iron weight that hit Harriet Tubman in the head and nearly killed her.

Watch this video so you can actually see the inside of the actual store where Harriet Tubman was hit in the head with an iron weight, as Harriet protected a runaway slave. This is a great place to visit!
