A cry so deep God heard

Now that the African American spirituals were recognized as a national treasure, I felt it was important to establish a resource center for their history where it could also be included in the educational curriculum in schools across America. Did you know that most of the music and oral history created by the slaves has already been lost forever? The Library of Congress houses over 6000 fragments of these songs that will never be heard in their entirety. The few stories and songs that we have left are at risk of being lost forever, if we don’t do something about it now. I created this interactive down-home-go-to-meeting-style Center For Learning at http://www.calvinearl.com to honor the spirituals and the unknown slaves who created this amazing music. Watch this video to learn about the history of the spirituals it might surprise you!
